Traditional Medicine Ceremony

Plant Medicine Ceremony

We work with, and are skilled and recognized by our Shuar medicine families in Ecuador and medicine elders of Mexico. With most Sacred Plants we work towards purification, cleansing, awakening our consciousness and vision, as much as reenforce our spiritual strength, impulsing our mental, physical and emotional health, to open up to Love and balance. Reconnecting to the forces of our natural origin, we remember our innate relationships and essence of Earth and Spirit. In meditation with the Grandfather Fire, we are offering songs and prayers with feathers and aromas of cedar, sage, copal and palo santo to encourage the cleansing, relief and healing, while celebrating Life and forces of nature that guide and surround us.

A traditional or ancestral ceremony provides integral healing: it is a sacred space where all the resources, arts and knowledge of ancestral medicine are applied. Herbal medicine, prayers, songs and aromas, the guiding song and vibrations of traditional instruments, these intensify the experience by sharpening the senses. The purpose is to find the balance between the internal and external, the Love and harmony between the physical, mental and spiritual body and the awareness of self-healing power. A purification and cleansing usually takes place during the nighttime, to awaken consciousness and vision, to strengthen spiritual and mental, physical and emotional health, to open up to the heart to re-connect to the forces of our natural origin. It´s a sacred celebration of Life and Spirit.

The therapeutical and ancestral use of plants intensify our experience and refine our senses and awareness. It is performed under experienced conditions that legitimize and make the experience rewarding, deepening to expand our health and consciousness. Led by the Uwishin (Shuar shaman/healer) or Nahual/Curandero in it's Mexican equivalent, a Sacred Amazonian Medicine Ceremony begins with a purpose for which it is being performed and continues with the medicines for all participants, starting with Tsaank, (traditional mapacho amazonian tobacco juice) to clean our nasal ways and open our spirit to receive the power of the plants. Next is the serving of the Sacred Brew followed by a time of silence of speech and silence at a physical level: meditation. The following space is one of activating the senses and to celebrate and experience the process of healing through song and sound.

Preparation and dieta

For a greater benefit of the plant medicines and the safety of all participants, a preparation is needed: we provide a personal intake, health info, instructions for dietary prep. for 3 days before and after ceremony, as well as methods to ensure your energetic balance. Each participant will receive and be guided through this information, and will sign to commit to these instructions, in order to participate in the most safe and effective way.

To prepare for a ceremony, it is good to align yourself with the plants, the mind and the body through the practice of meditation and conscious breathing and most important: your diet. There are foods and medications, as much as certain health conditions that are not compatible with some of the plant medicines. Also keeping a sexual diet is of utmost importance and truly effective. It's recommended to seek the presence of your original purposes, and confront doubts and trauma. Through your innate connection with nature, seek to practice silence, calm and passive observation of natural sounds, feelings and occurrences. Among others, these are basic tools that will help you during medicine intakes.

The wisdom of the Grandfather Fire

The Fire, grandfather, ancestor originating from the Sun and the Stars, inhabits the center and veins of our Mother Earth, of ourselves and is the One able to transforms matter into ether, like water turns to air on a red-hot rock. We keep and honor its wisdom and infinite memory of all relationships in the universe.

ARUTAM - Grandfather Fire, Father Sky, Pachamama, Air, Water, ancestors and continuous generations, are the living presence of the Spirit among us and within each being. A comprehensive worldview of consciousness that allows us to live in harmony and with greater health and happiness.

Through the practice of the ancestral, it is possible to realize our innate wisdom. It helps us to dissolve the most subtle blockages and to expand the body to a natural warmth and selfcare. A combination of breath work and visualization allows us to generate an inner fire.
